Coming this Spring!

We look forward to see you in the Spring...
the Spring Street Theater, that is!

... and all the other seasons, too.

Farnum Family

In the tradition of an old-time family string band, the award-winning Farnum Family performs a variety of musical styles reminiscent of an early Branson stage show. Bluegrass, Gospel, Irish, Old-Time Western and novelty tunes abound, along with a healthy dose of homespun humor. With spirited family harmonies woven throughout, lively instrumentals feature the 5-string banjo, twin-fiddles, guitar, mandolin, Dobro, upright bass, penny whistle, piano and more.

Best in Field

The Farnum Family consists of six children along with mom & dad. They've been entertaining local and Midwestern audiences as a touring family band for over 10 years. Venues include Silver Dollar City Music Festivals at nearby Silver Dollar City, the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, Arkansas, as well as performance tours ranging from Cody, Wyoming to the Texas Rio Grande Valley. Parents Norm & Trish have previously performed for many years combined at Silver Dollar City, the Roy Clark Theater, the Shepherd of the Hills Vaudeville Show, and as a Duet on the now historic Lake Queen on Lake Taneycomo.

Today, they'd like to invite you to their newest enterprise: The Spring Street Theater! Come join all the family for Music and a Meal!

A Very Nice Review

October 17, 2014

The Farnum Family might just be one of the best kept secrets of Branson. My introduction to this young family of eight accomplished musicians (even the youngest one) came about three weeks ago on a Saturday morning at a premier performance set in a little store front on a main street in Reeds Spring. The paint on the Spring Street Theater, we were told, was still wet and a new sign had yet to be put in place.

Three previous bus trips to the Branson area with my mother's church group only prepared me for more of the same this time -- instead… this was 'fresh'. I sat smiling through much of the hour-and-a-half-long performance. It was a gift. The music, superb. The voices, pure, honest and soulful, if not angelic at times. It's hard to imagine the discipline, practice and investment it takes for this delightful Christian home-schooled family to deliver an almost flawless performance. But it's not hard to know this was from their hearts to ours. They wore plaid, denim and beaver-skin hats -- but their eyes sparkled more than any rhinestones I had seen in Branson on my previous trips. After it was over, we had an encore like no other. Two of the teens followed our group to the antique shop down the street. While we ate a home-cooked meatloaf dinner, the sweet voices of violin and guitar blended to our on-demand requests for tunes like the Clarinet Polka, Tammy and a few others from days gone by.

Later, I wondered who chose the music we heard in that little store front… it wasn't what I expected to hear. Not at all… but it was so much more… spanning genres like bluegrass, gospel, Irish, old-time Western -- and a little Baxter Black to boot. No, not what I expected, but it's what I really want to hear the next time I come to Branson.
